The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested seven foreign nationals, including an American named Matthew VanDyke and six Ukrainians, in connection with alleged anti-terror activities.
The arrests were made in different cities, including Kolkata, Delhi, and Lucknow. A court has granted the NIA custody of the accused for further investigation.
According to officials, the group is suspected of planning to train armed groups in drone operations and support activities linked to insurgency. They are also believed to have attempted to move drones from Europe to Myanmar through India.
Investigators said that some of the accused entered India on tourist visas and later travelled to northeastern regions such as Mizoram, from where they allegedly crossed into Myanmar illegally.
The NIA is currently examining their electronic devices, financial links, and contacts to understand the full network and possible security threats.
