Google India has announced the selection of 20 startups as part of its second cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Women Founders initiative.
The accelerator programme saw up to 300 applications, out of which the best 20 were meticulously selected. The Women Founders Initiative aims to provide the best of Google’s programmes, products, people, and technology to the early-stage women-led tech startups based in India. The programme provides content and mentorship tailored to the unique needs of the startups, along with support in hiring and opportunities to network with Google’s global community.
The three-month, equity-free accelerator will also connect the startup with industry experts and include wide-ranging sectors like finance, technology, healthcare, education, and much more.
As disclosed by Google in a statement, the company is driving this initiative to increase the number of women in India’s digitally trained workforce, including through entrepreneurship and professional upskilling. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to make technology useful and relevant to everyone.
“The Google for Startups Accelerator: Women Founders programmeme is designed to enable women entrepreneurs in India who are using technology to solve complex problems and are making a positive impact on society,” said Paul Ravindranath G., program manager for Google for Startups Accelerator (India).
At the start of 2023, Google disclosed its first cohort: 20 startups selected out of 400 applications. The programme supported start-ups in artificial intelligence, cloud, machine learning, UX, Android, web, product strategy, and growth.
Meet the 20 Women-led Startups handpicked by Google
Aarogya AI
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Bengaluru, Aarogya AI was created through the joint efforts of Praapti Jayaswal and Avlokita Tiwari. It leverages genomics and artificial intelligence (AI) for precision diagnosis of antimicrobial resistance (largely drug-resistant tuberculosis).
The health tech startup is supported by genomics giant Illumina, the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), and Info Edge, among others.
AiBorne Tech
AiBorne Tech was launched in 2020 as a SaaS startup that deploys generative AI to help enterprises convert paper-based workflows into mobile apps. The startup is headquartered in Delhi-NCR.
With a dedicated no-code interface, the platform runs user input through AI and helps enterprises build apps in minutes to support remote inspection. Additionally, it claims to streamline the processes of SOP management, task assignment, and overall operations.
Bare Necessities
Founded in 2016, the Benguluru-based startup is an e-commerce platform that sells eco-friendly and zero-waste alternatives across a wide range of areas, including skin and personal care, home necessities, etc.
BHyve
The Mumbai-based SaaS platform, founded in 2022, leverages AI to streamline and organise silos of knowledge within an organisation.
The startup enables employees to access and search for tacit knowledge of their entire organisation within seconds by employing a gamification approach. This method promises a boost in productivity and efficiency.
Chaos Genius
A DataOps observability platform that optimises query performances and aids enterprises in minimising their data warehouse costs.
Created in 2021, the SaaS platform, with headquarters in Bengaluru and California, analyses Snowflake workloads to identify inefficient queries and provides recommendations for how to improve them. This can lead to significant cost savings as well as improved performance and reliability.
Enlite
Founded by Garima Bhardwaj and Gaurav Bali, the Mumbai-based startup is a deeptech startup that has developed the world’s first operating system for real estate. The operating system, called Know Your BuildingTM, helps building owners monitor, manage, and monetize their properties.
It does this by providing a centralised platform for managing data from a variety of sensors, such as air quality monitors, temperature sensors, and security cameras.
Fandrum
Started in 2019, Fandrum is a fan-centric social media platform that uses psychographic analysis to match users with communities of their choice. The platform also claims to help celebrities “harness” the collective power and influence of their fans through a single platform. It is headquartered in Delhi-NCR.
GoCodeo AI
GoCodeo is an enterprise technology platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automate software testing. The startup’s offering integrates contextual understanding, code intelligence, and generative AI to generate “smart tests” that can automatically detect bugs and code errors for developers.
Based in Bengaluru, the startup came into fruition this year. GoCodeo’s AI-powered testing platform can help developers save time and effort by automating the process of generating and running tests.
Karya
Co-founded by Manu Chopra and Vivek Seshadri, Karya claims to be the world’s first data cooperative, enabling economic opportunities for rural Indians.
Through their 30,000-strong Karya network, they capture, label, and annotate data for their clients with high accuracy, and in doing so, they provide critical, supplementary income to people in rural communities.
LetsEndorse
LetsEndorse is a social enterprise with a mission to solve social issues at scale by leveraging innovation, technology, and collaboration.
Established in 2014, the platform facilitates development capital in the form of large-scale philanthropy, CSR (corporate social responsibility) investments, individual giving, venture capital, and international finance to maximise social returns on these investments.
Match My [Talent]
Founded in 2017, Match My [Talent] provides a single platform for wide-scale talent discovery and acquisition. The platform boasts a portfolio of 30,000+ independent artists.
The search engine brings together offline and online resources and uses AI and natural language processing (NLP), along with data mapping, to connect artists to entertainment companies and fellow artists.
Metamagics
Based in Pune, Metamagics offers an end-to-end platform for organ transplant care that is connected, preventive, and proactive. The platform offers a variety of role-specific apps that cover the entire transplant process, from pre-transplant to post-transplant.
Now&Me
Now&Me is a support system for the rising demand for mental health awareness. It provides a quick solution for its users by connecting them to mental health experts at the click of a button. The platform makes mental health care accessible through its affordable prices and wide range of doctors and experts to choose from.
PMaps
Established in 2011, PMaps is a visual-based assessment platform that helps businesses measure the skills and personalities of entry-level job applicants.
The startup, which is composed of seasoned psychologists, statisticians, and IT experts, uses pictures to measure personality, which they say is three times faster than traditional assessments.
SilverGenie
As an end-to-end platform, SilverGenie provides senior citizens with the much-required services of seasoned and highly skilled critical care attendants. The platform, founded in 2020, aims to revolutionise elder care management and provide their customers with a committed workforce at the touch of a button.
Spark Studio
With the help of AI, Spark Studio intends to create a comfortable and lively space for toddlers and teens. The Bengaluru-based startup has been offering live classes on art and music with online communication since 2020.
