Associate – Venture Capital Intern – GradCapital

gradCapital is currently hiring Associates

gradCapital is a pan-India student-driven venture capital firm that invests in daring student entrepreneurs. gC writes $40k checks to early-stage startups, including ideas discussed over chai, samosa, and Maggi. We’ve previously supported startups such as Zepto (India’s newest unicorn), Airbound, Ripen, and more. Our cohort network include Tarun Mehta (co-founder, Ather Energy), Kailash Nadh (CTO, Zerodha), Kshitij (Co-founder, Pixxel), and other successful entrepreneurs. We believe that students are irrationally optimistic, creative, and true mountain movers, which fundamentally allows them to create future large companies.

Responsibilities

• Identify capable teams. This makes up the most important part of the stint – it includes filtering and decision-making mechanisms to identify the best talent. Moreover, work with startups to understand their vision, mission, and business model.
• Think analytically, conduct research, and draft investment committee memos alongside partners which will be read by top industry leaders.
• Build and maintain a network of alumni, startups, and mentors across colleges.
• Work with ambitious associates on projects and therefore build a career support system.

We operate in a space where there are no benchmarks for reference. As a consequence, we very often use first-principle thinking to find answers. We expect the same from our associates. The student’s academic year or major doesn’t matter to us as much. Our associate alumni from different backgrounds have been placed in leading organizations like Nomura, BCG, JP Morgan, and Sequoia, One started a company right after and raised $300k from a top VC, and a few went to 2+2 MBA with admits from Yale/other top B-schools.

We are looking for associates to join us during the academic year and gain real experience in venture capital. It will be a part-time commitment of at least 8 months so that they can balance it along with their academics.
