The fund takes a concentrated approach to early-stage investing & some of the better known portfolio companies include Jar, smallcase, Pratilipi, AppsforBharat, Masterchow, NOTO & Unbox Robotics, amongst others. The fund believes in backing “Emerging Founders” – ie folks who don’t yet have a long standing track record but do have some experience & a lot of passion in what they’re building. The fund is operated by a close-knit team of 4 split across Mumbai & Bangalore.

Job Description

We are seeking a Chartered Accountant (CA) Industrial Trainee to join our finance team who are eligible to pursue industrial training. The primary responsibilities for this role include:

• Fund Accounting: Fund Accounting is handled by an external firm – the candidate would have to oversee the functions of this firm which includes accounting processes for the fund, capital calls, distributions, tracking investor contributions, preparing quarterly and annual financial statements, managing bank reconciliations, managing quarterly reporting to LPs, and ensuring meticulous accuracy and adherence to relevant accounting standards.
• Portfolio Company MIS: Managing and analyzing MIS for portfolio companies to provide strategic insights that support the investment team.
• Audit and Valuation Coordination: Facilitating annual audit processes and coordinating valuation engagements with external consultants.
• Legal Compliance: Ensuring the timely submission of regulatory filings and adherence to financial regulations and statutory guidelines.
• Other Finance Functions: Engaging in a variety of financial activities, including cash flow monitoring, involvement in financial diligence aspects as part of investment evaluations, and supporting ad-hoc financial projects as needed.

Qualifications

• We prefer candidates with experience primarily in audit. Experience in the Big 4 accounting firms and familiarity with valuations is a plus.
• Current CA articled trainees who are eligible to pursue industrial training are encouraged to apply.
• Strong command of accounting principles and financial analysis methodologies.
• Highly proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently. Interest and exposure to VC and start-up eco-system is a plus.
• Must be based in Mumbai.
