The Fellowship Program is designed for emerging stars, looking to grow as Venture Partners in the VC PE & entrepreneurial ecosystem. The program is rooted in our belief that SucSEED’s core purpose in the early-stage ecosystem is to Nurture Talent – either entrepreneurial talent through capital or VC talent through early exposure to building blocks of Venture ecosystem. Nurturing & developing talent is a Foundation to build a long-term institution.

Job Description:

The full time fellowship program is for a year and aimed to give the fellows a full taste of what happens in a VC fund. You’ll be responsible for working closely on Investor expectations (retail, institutional & Family offices), develop deeper relationship with Partners of SucSEED (Incubators, Accelerators, IBs, network with other fund houses, Large Technology firms, & so on), work on Marketing & Communication strategy for your PortCo to have better brand recall with the external world at every level, work on Events & Collaborations to create better outreach, and sell-side opportunities towards exits.

For deserving candidates, the program can help get the full time offer from SucSEED too.

In this Fellowship, you will be expected to learn & understand the progress in the sector, build & maintain valuation-related analysis, prepare write-ups, present investment ideas to HealthTech Sectoral Committee, Investment Mgmt Team, Partners & Investment Committees, in order to take an informed call on early-stage deal. Once invested, grow the PortCo and create value to Investors through a healthy Exit.

1) Buy-side Sectoral Research leading to Pre-Deal discovery- Responsible to Conduct Primary & Secondary market research around Technology Innovation in healthcare sector including sub-sectors (Healthtech, MedTech, BioTech, Molecular Biology, Life science tools, diagnostics, healthcare IT, Pharma, Digital health & Wellness solutions etc.) to identify opportunities for growth & innovation and convert into Annual Buy-side Sectoral Research. Attend various events across the Healthcare Industry and Analyze health data to identify patterns & trends.

2) Deal Discovery-

• Work with various Incubators & Sourcing Partners such as IITM, CCMB and other Medtech Accelerators to discover innovations matching our investment themes (inbound & outbound)
• Filter, Screen & interact with founders to appreciate their solutions.
• Collaborate with Sectoral Curators to help shape Fund roadmaps & discover deals accordingly.

3) Investment Mgmt & Deal Execution-

• Conduct Investment analysis based on product features, market size & business projections to build a case to invest.
• Work with Investment committee to identify investment interest and ensure Investment Memo covers all the salient points to get approval from the committees & LPs, delivered on time, as per the scope.

4) Portfolio Management & Value Creation / Scaling of PortCos-

• Work with HealthTech Portfolio company Founders and develop an implementation plan to achieve Business Plans & GTM.
• Track & report on key performance metrics to senior management. You will be expected to conduct in-depth benchmarking of valuation & operational metrics (vs. peer groups), and learn how other analyses could be helpful in Early-stage investments.
• Develop Outreach, presentations & other materials to communicate with clients, partners & investors about the sector.
• Identify Clients, Partners & Investors who can bring value towards the growth of our PortCos, with regular engagements through Portfolio Showcases.

5) Sell-side Sectoral Research & Create Exits –

• Relationship & Engagement: Lead day-to-day execution of complex engagement with CorpDev/ Client Teams and Private Equity players across Pre-Deal phase, Deal Execution phase & Value Creation / Scaling of PortCos.
• Business Development: Identify & convert client opportunities by building relationships with Global PE/M&A Leadership, Client Account Teams, & Client stakeholders in PE/Corporates across geographies. Harness extensive knowledge combined with an integrated suite of methods, people & assets to help the Fund to create Value to Investors.
• Practice Development: Contribute to the development of new assets / IP, thought capital & POVs, raising the profile of team & the PortCo leading to demand generation.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE –

The Fellowship is a stipend-led program designed with multidisciplinary learning at its core. The program operates on a 12-month model where a fellow would get an opportunity to work on above dimensions of the VC ecosystem in the sectors of our fund thesis. At the end of the program, SucSEED will provide extensive support to help you pursue your career or aspirations through strong references and recommendations.

We expect the Fellow to complete 12-month to get the most out of our program, and would accept a lock-in period of one-year to ensure only committed candidates deserve to enter the program. The program combines structured mentorship with hands-on experience and offers tremendous opportunity to learn about VC & amplifies insights and understanding of the India’s startup ecosystem.

• Cycle 1 deadline – 22/Jan/2024 (for those candidates who can start from March/April’24) – completed
• Cycle 2 deadline – 07/APR/2024 (for those candidates who can start by May’24) – open now.

Fellowship program had commenced already in 2023 and our intake from Cohort1 are running successfully with a rolling 1-yr program.

What we look for: Qualification & Profile

We require performance-oriented accountability and constant learning. We believe in building Venture Partners in next few years, from within by encouraging our team to challenge themselves and explore their deep potential.

• Graduate candidates with 0-3 yrs experience in a EdTech, Fintech, Security, SAAS, IT Automation, or something similar – ideally in business analysis or similar, covering Indian or global markets will have an added advantage.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations & compliance standards would be a plus.
• Likes Business, Finances & Accounting – Understands key concepts, financial statements & analysis.
• Candidates with equity research & valuation skills are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates with exposure to M&A consulting (e.g., advisory, strategy, management) or direct deal experience (e.g., PE, CorpDev, CVC) may be plus.
• Extensive experience with project management including organization, prioritization and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously & work well under pressure to drive tasks/ initiatives to completion.
• Excellent Communicator- ability to work with technical & non-technical stakeholders, with attention to detail & delivery method & swift negotiations.
• Passion for Technology- Keen understanding of the latest tech trends & their impact on markets, economy, and the future.
• Solid exposure to fast-growing companies, digital startups, top consulting firm or IBs.
• Multifaceted- Open to contributing value that cuts across roles & disciplines.
• Curious– Relentless curiosity and hunger to learn, contribute & excel
