We are adding further to our Analyst team (Fintech sector)

This is a Pre MBA program (24 months time bound program) and lets you work closely with the Matrix Partners India investment and leadership team to find and back India’s best startups.

Location- Bangalore

About the role

Work with a set of smart and driven individuals to find outstanding founders – identify and partner with the next Sachin Bansal, Bhavish Aggarwal or Deepinder Goyal! Get a ring side view into the Venture Capital business and see how companies such as Ola, Flipkart, PayTM, Zomato, etc. are built.

The role entails identifying interesting markets, spotting trends, finding outstanding founders (sourcing), helping with business diligence and assisting in portfolio management

Qualifications & Skill Set

  • B.Tech is Preferred- Premier Tech colleges/ Graduates
  • Overall 2-3 years at max
  • Consulting experience of working with clients in the Financial Services ecosystem is preferred
  • Knowledge about startup and startup trends will be an added advantage
  • Should not be an MS/MBA- This is a Pre MBA program.

Sector-specific & firm-wide responsibilities:

Investment Thesis:

– Assist in preparation of sector investment thesis

– help answer the question whether Matrix should invest in a particular space or not

– Help spot global trends in your sectors and new emerging ideas / areas

– Identify and share learnings from successful global startups in your sector

Sourcing

– Leverage secondary data to build pipeline of deal opportunities in multiple sectors

– Prioritize “standout” opportunities using judgement/criteria

– Own & manage sector pipeline on internal CRM

Due Diligence

– Drive secondary research (analyst reports, industry reports, market scans, market sizing) to build viewpoints on deal opportunities

– Help conduct in-depth diligence for potential deals (MIS analysis, customer conversations, mystery shopping, analysing competitive landscape, etc)

– Help prepare investment memos and financial models

Portfolio support

– Assist with the preparation of investor pitch decks

– Help track portfolio company performance as against their business plans

Knowledge Management

– Prepare periodic summaries of key deals in your sector

– Identify key trends based on sector deal activity and help refine firm strategy
