About the Role: Roots Ventures is seeking a driven and experienced Associate/Senior Associate to join our team in Mumbai. We are a SEBI-registered fund with a corpus of about INR 500 crores, focused on investing in early-stage startups across India.
We’re looking for a self-starter with a serious passion for the Indian startup ecosystem. You’ll be a key player on our small investment team, involved in everything from finding the next big thing to helping our portfolio companies. We’re more interested in someone with the grit and hunger to prove themselves than fancy degrees.
What you’ll do:
- Deal Evaluation: Take ownership of the evaluation process, conducting deep market research, competitive analysis, and building comprehensive financial models.
- Financial Analysis: Build detailed and sensible financial models.
- Documentation: Turn your insights into compelling investment memos and ensure all paperwork is in order.
- Portfolio Management: Keep a close eye on our portfolio companies, track their performance, and offer support.
- Content Creation: Draft witty investment newsletters and create engaging social media content.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience in a venture capital fund, private equity, or investment banking.
- Skills:
- An eagle eye for detail.
- Wizardry with MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read a financial report like a bedtime story.
- Articulate, persuasive, with a good flair for writing.
- A problem-solving attitude and adept at using LLMs for research.
- Attributes: You’re a proactive self-starter with a strong network and a passion for startups.
