Guild has delivered industry leading returns over the last decade and plans to ramp up investments significantly going forward.

We are searching for a CFO who will support and add value to both Guild Capital and our portfolio companies. This role, reporting to the Head of India Investments and dotted line reporting to the Global CFO. You will support Guild’s Fund Operations set-up, internal finance function, engage with portfolio company management teams on a consultative basis, and assist directly in Guild’s investment and portfolio management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Fund Structure and Strategy:

  • Collaborate with the fund’s partners to define the fund’s investment strategy, target sectors, and geographic focus.
  • Assist in determining the fund’s size, fundraising goals, and capital allocation strategy.
  • Evaluate the regulatory and legal requirements for setting up a VC fund in India and ensure compliance

2. Fundraising and Investor Relations:

  • Develop fundraising materials, including pitch decks and financial projections, to attract potential investors.
  • Assist in investor due diligence by providing financial data and insights
  • Participate in investor meetings and help address financial-related inquiries.

3.Financial Planning:

  • Create financial models projecting the fund’s potential performance, capital flows, and investment returns.
  • Work with partners to develop a budget for the fund’s initial setup and ongoing operations.

4.Compliance Management:

  • Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure the fund’s legal structure, documents, and agreements are in line with Indian regulations.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary regulatory approvals and licenses to operate as a VC fund.

5.Portfolio Company Engagement

  • Ensure robust FP&A processes, including budgeting, monthly reporting, and variance analysis across all portfolio companies
  • Assist with treasury/liquidity management (balance liquidity, risk, and return)
  • Ensure regular financial reporting in Guild format (e.g., cash flow forecast)
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Provide ad hoc analytical and strategic financial support to Guild’s portfolio company management teams
  • Organize finance “roundtables” bringing together portfolio company leadership to discuss pertinent and timely finance topics

6.Investing and Portfolio Management

  • Support Guild’s deal team in financial and legal due diligence
  • Support Guild’s investment team in executing investments and exits
  • Conduct, review, and communicate analyses of portfolio company performance
  • Engage with Guild’s investors on an as-needed basis via email, telephone, and video conference

Requirements:

1. Education and work experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with CA required; MBA, JD, CPA, and/or CFA® charter preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in management consulting, investment banking, PE, and/or VC
  • Managerial experience preferred

2. Skills

  • Strong understanding of quantitative analysis, corporate finance, financial modeling, and accounting
  • Excellent written and vocal communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

3. Work style

  • Excellent organization, project management, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently (with limited direction) or in groups
  • Comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Positive, “can do” attitude
