Job Summary

The Investment Analyst plays a crucial role in identifying and evaluating investment opportunities within the ClimateTech sector. The role involves conducting in-depth research on industry trends, performing comprehensive due diligence on potential investments, and developing detailed financial models to

assess potential returns. The role also involves preparing investment memos and deal analyses for presentation to the Investment Committee, as well as representing The Catalyst at industry events.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Sourcing & Research:

• Assist in identifying and sourcing potential investment opportunities within the ClimateTech
• sector.
• Conduct thorough research on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory
• developments in the ClimateTech sector to inform investment strategies.

Due Diligence:

• Conduct comprehensive due diligence on prospective investment opportunities, including
• analyzing business models, competitive landscapes, and financial health.
• Develop and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate investment opportunities and assess
• potential returns.
• Perform valuation analysis using various methodologies, including discounted cash flow (DCF),
• Berkus method, comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.

Investment Analysis & Reporting:

• Prepare detailed investment memos and deal analyses for the management team to present to
• the Investment Committee.
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of reports and presentations that summarize research
• findings and investment recommendations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Represent The Catalyst and its accelerator program at industry events, conferences, and
• networking opportunities to build relationships and stay informed on market
• developments.
• Maintain ongoing communication with portfolio companies to monitor their performance and support their growth.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Environmental Science, or a related field is required. A CFA designation is a plus.

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or a related
• field, with a preference for candidates with a focus on ClimateTech or sustainability sectors.

Technical Skills

• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
• Ability to conduct thorough due diligence and synthesize large amounts of information into
• actionable insights.

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
