Avaana Capital is India’s largest institutional climate-focused venture capital fund. The Role:
The Investment Associate will work closely with our Partners and the investment team, helping Avaana in identifying India’s most exciting early-stage entrepreneurs building for climate, and supporting them to scale up their ventures, thereby delivering extraordinary returns for our investors.
Key Responsibilities:
● Source high-quality investment opportunities by leveraging industry networks, deep market research and conducting proactive outreach
● Building & continuously evolving investment theses by analyzing market trends, identifying growth drivers, and assessing the long-term potential of emerging sectors and technologies
● Lead due diligence processes, including financial analysis, evaluating business plans, market sizing, competitive assessment, and risk identification
● Assisting with closing deals which includes writing comprehensive investment memos, supporting deal
documentation, stakeholder management, and managing post-closure processes
● Supporting in portfolio management and monitoring performance. Work closely with portfolio companies on value creation & strategic guidance on business development, scaling, and financial management
Required Qualifications and Attributes:
● Undergraduate degree (with at least 4+ yrs experience) or Postgraduate degree (with at least 2+ yrs experience) from a premier institute with relevant experience across investing/consulting/ or start-ups
● Highly motivated, self-starter, ownership driven, and with high intellectual curiosity
● Experience in qualitative analysis, research, and business case development. Should have the ability to conduct primary and secondary market research and extract relevant insights
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a small team and clearly & concisely communicate key findings and conclusions
● Impeccable standards of integrity, confidentiality, and should be able to apply professional discernment around sensitive information
