Venture Capital Job – Investment Associate / Senior Associate – Cowboy Ventures

Cowboy Ventures is a leading seed-focused venture capital firm dedicated to supporting extraordinary founders building legendary technology companies. We’re based in Palo Alto, California.

About the Role

We’re looking to hire an investing associate or senior associate to work across sourcing, diligence, post-investment support, community building and firm operations.

This role has three main areas of focus:

       – Help source and diligence early stage ventures

       – Help provide world-class support to our portfolio companies

       – Help with other venture firm-building activities

Cowboy Ventures is fortunate to receive a high volume of referrals. We also spend time networking and sourcing new ventures. In this role, you will:

   •Evaluate a high volume and broad array of tech-driven startups and trends

   •Drive diligence including financial modeling, market and customer research

   •Help build and maintain key relationships for referrals and diligence

   •Help build Cowboy’s reputation through research, events and community building

Team Cowboy aims to deliver best-in-class post-investment support to accelerate portfolio company success. In this role, you’ll help with:

   • Recruiting

   • Planning

   • Customer introductions

   • Competitive intelligence

   • Follow-on financings

You’ll collaborate to conceive, prioritize and drive projects to completion, with a “no task too big or too small” mentality. Projects might include:

   • Modeling investment portfolio scenarios

   • Helping plan and prepare for a strategy offsite

   • LP communications

   • Research and writing

We’re looking for a mix of incisive thinking, growth mindset, GSD attitude, humility, intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, humor, emotional intelligence, and results. Plus, you have:

   • 3+ years of prior full-time work experience. Preferably in tech-focused venture capital, growth equity, management consulting, investment banking, or at a VC-backed startup. (Additional experience required for a Senior Associate)

   • A passion for technology and digital fluency, with prior exposure to tech and/or the tech investing ecosystem

   • Proven ability to work with executive-level operators, demonstrating a high sense of urgency, organization and strong attention to detail and quality

   • Success in unstructured environments through strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, resourcefulness, high efficiency, and work ethic

   • A sense of humor, empathy for others, and confidence with humility

   • The utmost integrity and ability to maintain trusted confidence with partners

   • We’re looking for someone to be based in the Bay Area who will work regularly out of our office in Palo Alto, California

   • This is a full-time role with salary, medical benefits, and 401k
