Role Overview:

Antler India is seeking an enterprising individual to join the team as Investment Manager – Consumer. This role is designed for someone who is deeply passionate about the consumer space, particularly at the intersection of consumer and AI. The ideal candidate will be a strong ex-founder/operator/ investor in the consumer space with expertise in one or more areas of growth, product and business strategy, enabling them to provide strong support to portfolio founders. You will play a critical role in shaping the future of consumer startups in India by offering hands-on operational guidance, building a robust investment thesis, and identifying and investing in high-potential startups.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Portfolio Support:

  • Act as a strategic partner to portfolio companies in the consumer space.
  • Help founders refine their business models, solve bottlenecks and raise follow-on funding.
  • Leverage your network and expertise to connect portfolio companies with relevant partners, advisors, and talent.
  1. Sourcing and Selection:
  1. Identify and source high-potential consumer startups across sectors such as edtech, fashion & beauty, health & wellness, social, travel, faithtech, marketplaces and more.
  2. Evaluate business models, unit economics, competitive positioning, and founder potential.
  3. Prepare and present investment recommendations to the investment committee and be part of the final decision-making.
  4. Structure deals and negotiate terms with founders.
  1. Founder Offering & Platform Positioning:
  • Develop and refine Antler India’s value proposition for consumer founders, ensuring it stands out as a compelling choice for the best talent in the ecosystem.
  • Design tailored resources and support systems for early-stage consumer startups.
  • Position Antler India as the go-to platform for consumer founders by creating thought leadership content, hosting sector-specific events, and engaging with our early-founder community.

Requirements:

  1. Experience:
    • 5 years+ of experience as an operator in consumer startups, ex-founder or investor.
    • Proven track record of operating experience or investing in early-stage startups is a big plus.
  2. Sector Expertise:
    • Deep understanding of the Indian and global consumer market, including emerging trends, consumer behavior, and competitive dynamics.
    • Know-how of building consumer brands, e-commerce platforms, and digital-first consumer businesses.
  3. Analytical Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills to assess business models, unit economics, and growth potential.
    • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.
  4. Networking & Relationship Building:
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with founders and stakeholders.
    • A strong network within the Indian startup ecosystem is a big plus.
  5. Passion for Startups:
    • A genuine passion for working with early-stage founders and helping them build transformative businesses.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with a high level of curiosity and adaptability.
  6. Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institution; MBA or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
