About NBA Investments: NBA Investments is the NBA’s corporate venture capital division. This position will play a crucial role in evaluating and managing investment opportunities, participating in the identification, analysis, and execution of potential investments in promising startups and growth-stage companies.

Role Summary: The NBA Investments Principal will be responsible for critical process management efforts, from developing a company database to tracking the opportunity pipeline and monitoring portfolio company progress. You will work closely across multiple internal NBA constituencies to gather and prioritize strategic investment focus areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Deal Sourcing / Research:

1. Identify investment opportunities through market research and various deal-sourcing channels.

2. Conduct initial screening based on strategic fit, financial viability, and growth potential.

3. Conduct research on industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies.

4. Develop a company database to track key industry metrics and serve as an internal benchmarking tool.

Investment Analysis:

1. Conduct comprehensive due diligence, including financial analysis, market research, competitive landscape assessment, and risk evaluation.

2. Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to assess strategic fit and upside potential.

3. Assist in preparing investment recommendations for the Investment Committee and Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Portfolio Management:

1. Support portfolio companies by identifying growth opportunities and addressing operational challenges.

2. Monitor existing portfolio companies’ performance by tracking KPIs and financial metrics.

3. Prepare progress reports and presentations for the Investment Committee and Board of Governors.

Required Education & Experience:

1. Minimum 7 – 10 years of relevant work experience.

2. Work experience in venture capital, consulting, investment banking, or private equity is required.

3. Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field; Advanced degrees such as MBA preferred.

Required Skills:

1. Strong analytical ability and proficiency in financial modeling, business valuation, and data analysis.

2. Familiarity with venture capital/private equity/M&A transactions and processes.

3. Ability to understand term sheets and identify key issues to negotiate.

4. Creative & innovative thinker with an analytical & entrepreneurial mindset.

5. Strong organizational and project management skills.

Compensation:

1. Salary Range: $200,000 – $220,000
