We are hiring a SaaS/AI Investment Analyst for the 2025-2027 cohort (preferably joining in Jan 2025). This is a 2 year, highly intensive, in-depth, pre-MBA Analyst role at one of India’s leading early-stage VC funds.

THE ROLE(S)
The Investment Analyst role is an entry-level role within the Investment team, which is broadly split into three main buckets: DeepTech (focussed but not limited to Climate, HealthTech, Robotics), B2C/Consumer (with a stronger India focus), Fintech (including AgriTech and allied areas) and AI/SaaS. We are hiring for one Analyst to join each key bucket and work closely with the co-leads (VP/AVP/Associate) within each space, helping Blume back India’s most exciting early stage entrepreneurs, and then supporting them to grow their ventures, thereby delivering stellar returns for our investors.

This form is only meant for folks who are eager to join Blume’s SaaS/AI investments team.

The analyst’s role will comprise, in decreasing order of priority:

80% of time
1. Helping source exciting startups for Blume via networks (founder communities, AI/SaaS circles, college alumni networks etc.) and / or through your research

2. Helping Blume in prioritising investing opportunities by building an investment thesis for sectors and opportunities, in conjunction with investment leads
3. Supporting the investment lead/co-lead on the investment evaluation process from start to end

20% of time
4. Supporting the investment lead/co-lead on any key portfolio, external / thought-leadership or internal initiatives.

WHO CAN APPLY?

This is a terrific role for someone who is passionate about startups, venture capital and technology. The ideal candidate would 1-3 years of full-time work experience having done or doing any of the following:

– Worked in an investing role at a generalist or SaaS-focused pre-seed or Micro VC fund
– Worked in a high-growth startup environment (specifically in B2B AI/SaaS/Dev-tools for this role)

* You will have a willingness to put in hard work and long hours (we work as hard as our early stage founders do), a proactive ‘how can I help’ mindset, and a very high degree of ownership and drive to succeed. Some proxies of this will come from your academic record, your positions of responsibility in college, participation and support to product/sales/AI communities etc.

* We’re looking for someone who has the curiosity and ability to go unreasonably deep on obscure ideas and is obsessive about mastering complex topics quickly. Please include any original written or recorded content that you’ve published, in your CV.

* If you understand business models, financial reports and the like, it is a bonus, but it isn’t strictly essential. You can easily pick it up on the job.

Please note that this is a pre-MBA, fixed-term role. We have developed the analyst program as a high-learning, high-exposure and high-ownership 2-year role, following which the candidate can head to B-School or explore startups or other related opportunities.

BLUME CULTURE – WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK WITH US

We work very hard, but very closely, and are hugely invested in, and care for each other’s learning and development.

While we’re almost 15 years old this year, in some ways we are still building Blume from the ground up. We rely strongly on a First Principles approach, and that means questioning the way things were done before. VC is first and foremost a relationship driven business, so we do prioritise a positive interaction with everyone we meet.

We have a decentralised leadership that is committed to helping Blume grow in the right way. This may mean sometimes that you get five different answers to one questions – the right person will see this as an opportunity rather than a roadblock in figuring out their next steps. Our team has high ownership and high expectations – we fully understand that we may not always be able to control the outcomes of certain situations, and therefore review success also in terms of our inputs – did we do everything possible we could from our side to make something happen.

This approach isn’t for everyone, especially if you’ve been used to clearer frameworks, targets, single-threaded reporting and working with relatively fewer inputs. But for someone who understands the end goal, the process and journey along the way is a wonderfully positive challenge that does push you to grow personally and professionally.

Applicants shortlisted from this form will be invited to 2-3 rounds of interviews to understand their ability to research, prepare a convincing argument for a specific sub-sector, align on expectations, motivations for the role, and suitability for the position. We expect to roll out offers by early-mid December, and look to have candidates join us by mid-late Jan 2025.
