Key Responsibilities:

Deal Sourcing & Investment:

  • Proactively scout and source investment opportunities by leveraging a robust startup and venture capital ecosystem network.
  • Evaluate incoming pitch decks and investment inquiries for alignment with fund strategies, conducting initial screenings and deeper dives as warranted.
  • Engage actively with the startup ecosystem through conferences, industry events, and networking sessions, reaching out to potential investment targets, founders, and other VC professionals.
  • Lead the due diligence process for potential investments, including market research, financial analysis, and technical assessments.
  • Collaborate with the team to evaluate business models, competitive landscapes, and growth potential, preparing investment memos and presenting recommendations to the investment committee.
  • Negotiate deal terms, assist in structuring investments, and manage the closing process for investments.

Portfolio Management:

  • Continuously track and assess portfolio companies’ financial and operational performance, utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with portfolio companies to provide value beyond the capital, connecting them with potential partners, customers, or mentors, aiding recruitment efforts, or strategizing around market expansion.
  • Serve as a board observer or board member for selected portfolio companies, actively participating in strategic discussions and offering guidance on critical decisions to ensure alignment with the fund’s investment goals.
  • Collaborate with the management teams of portfolio companies to develop and execute exit strategies, maximizing the fund’s return on investment during exit events.

Fundraising:

  • Lead fundraising efforts for our funds, engaging with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, institutional investors, and other potential limited partners.
  • Conduct extensive outreach to potential investors, effectively communicating the fund’s strategy, performance track record, and potential for generating returns to build investor confidence.
  • Lead or participate in investor roadshows, meetings, and conferences, both locally and internationally, to showcase the fund’s opportunities and connect with potential investors.

Training and Team Development:

  • Actively mentor and coach junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Implement a structured feedback cycle within the team, encouraging open and constructive feedback to refine investment strategies and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement training programs, identifying external training resources and opportunities to enhance team knowledge and expertise.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports for the investment committee and family office leadership, including detailed analyses of the portfolio’s current state, financial performance, market dynamics, and potential risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct in-depth assessments of portfolio company health, identify red flags or areas requiring additional attention, and tailor reports to specific needs.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business, finance, or a related field from a reputed institute.
  • 9 to 12 years of experience, preferably as a startup founder or working on the buy-side of family office investments/ VC/PE firm/ KPO/ Big4 Consulting.
  • Proven experience in venture capital, private equity, or investment banking, focusing on early-stage technology investments.
  • Strong analytical skills, including financial modelling and valuation.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • A well-established network in the startup and venture capital community.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • They have demonstrated a track record of successful investments in early-stage companies.

Additional Information:

  • This full-time position has a competitive fixed salary, complemented by a performance-based carry structure.
  • The carry component will be based on the performance of the investments and the overall success of Artha Venture Fund and Artha Select Fund.
