Venture Capital Job – Senior Analyst (DeepTech/ Emerging Tech Investing) – Merak Ventures

About Us:

Merak Ventures is an early-stage venture capital fund with offices in India and Singapore. Our investment thesis focuses on seed-stage, B2B, and emerging technologies companies that solve real-world problems and create significant impact.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide strategic guidance and operational support to deep tech portfolio startups
2. Conduct thorough evaluations of potential investment opportunities in DeepTech startups, aligning with our investment thesis of supporting companies at the seed stage that demonstrate innovative solutions and market potential
3. Cultivate and manage relationships within the ecosystem, collaborating with research institutions, tech labs, and industry experts to identify disruptive technologies and investment prospects
4. Actively engage in deal sourcing through targeted outreach initiatives to identify promising tech startups that align with our investment criteria and sector focus
5. Prepare compelling investment proposals, conduct risk assessments, and actively participate in structuring and negotiating investment deals
6. Stay informed about the latest advancements in DeepTech sectors such as AI, machine learning, biotech, robotics, and quantum computing, seeking opportunities aligned with our sector-agnostic investment approach
7. Cultivate meaningful relationships with Associates/Sr. Associates/Principals at ecosystem players like accelerators, incubators, other VC funds etc
8. Represent the fund at tech conferences, industry events, and networking platforms to establish a prominent presence in the DeepTech community and identify potential investment targets
9. Develop thought leadership by generating insights, industry analyses, and thematic content to enhance the fund’s credibility and visibility within the DeepTech/ startup/ VC ecosystem

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BE/B.Tech)
2. 4+ years of total experience of which 2+ years of experience in venture capital, technology investment, startup ecosystem, or a technical role in a DeepTech company, with a proven track record of evaluating and supporting early-stage ventures
3. Solid understanding of deep tech sectors and a keen interest in emerging technologies that have the potential to disrupt traditional industries and drive innovation
4. Exceptional analytical skills to assess complex technologies, business models, and market dynamics within the DeepTech landscape
5. Strong communication skills (written & oral) to engage with technical founders, researchers, and industry experts, building rapport and fostering productive relationships
6. Proactive self-starter and team player with a genuine passion for DeepTech innovation; able to take initiative and thrive in a dynamic environment
