SUMMARY

This role is for anyone that is passionate about a career in venture capital and ready to accelerate their journey.

This role is for someone that wants to gain experience executing deals.

The role will be responsible for all aspects of fund management including but not limited to deal sourcing, due diligence, deal execution, portfolio management and support, investor relations, marketing, research and administration, and representing 1982 Ventures.

She/he will work directly with the Managing Partners as an integral part of our growing fund.

Primary responsibilities will include:

1. Meeting with entrepreneurs to learn about their ideas and plans and subsequently, review these opportunities and determine which ones are worth pursuing
2. Involvement in all aspects of due diligence on investments (business analysis, industry thesis, competitive landscape, business/pricing model, and financial modelling / deal structuring)
3. Reading/reviewing business plans and pitch decks
4. Assessing market/company attractiveness to help identify compelling businesses
5. Working in a strategic capacity with existing portfolio companies as needed
6. Preparing market analyses and presentations to drive investment decisions and for engagement with the firm’s extensive network
7. Investment professional will participate in and be asked to contribute to weekly internal meetings in which new investments and portfolio companies are discussed
8. Produce thought-leadership and reports for website, blog and social media

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have up to 3 years of total prior work experience including at a minimum either of:

1. +2 year of full-time work experience in venture capital or investments
2. +2 year of full-time work experience at a top-tier investment bank, strategy consulting or accounting firm
3. +2 year of full-time work experience in start-ups, strategy, business development, partnerships or corporate development
4. Any work experience that demonstrates the drive, skills and character required to be successful in a demanding, entrepreneurial and dynamic work environment.

Qualified candidates likely also meet the following criteria:

1. Self-starter with superior work ethic and uncompromising personal integrity
2. Highly analytical with an interest in sifting through, and identifying trends within, large volumes of data
3. Basic understanding of financial modelling and accounting
4. Demonstrated ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with limited supervision (including proactively seeking guidance when needed)
5. Passionate about personal development and career mentorship
6. Wants to be part of a highly collaborative team, where we all strive to win together
7. Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with an ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships
8. Undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution, and a demonstrated track record of both academic and professional success OR…. anyone that is hungry, works hard and wants to win!

2. Start-ups and/or Early Stage Venture Capital
