Venture Capital Job – VP/Associate – Leo Capital

We are looking to add an outstanding person to our new team in Europe, who can bring their curiosity, energy, and enthusiasm to contribute across a range of activities in a highly varied and dynamic role.

Leo Capital is a Singapore-based early-stage venture fund, built by serial entrepreneurs with global experience. Leo Capital backs companies powering a software-enabled world and supports their founders on the journey from great founder to great CEO. From our entrepreneurial roots in India, we have grown quickly and now partner with the most tenacious and resourceful founders worldwide who have a global perspective and the ambition to make a positive impact.

We invest at the pre-seed to pre-Series A stage, with a particular focus on B2B SaaS, working closely with our portfolio to supercharge growth while maintaining capital efficiency. We recently launched our first European fund, a €25 million seed-stage B2B fund based in Helsinki, focused on the Nordics, Baltics, and the UK. We are the first international VC fund to set up operations in Finland, with Business Finland Venture Capital’s backing and regulation by FIN-FSA.

The role offers an opportunity to progress alongside the fund’s own growing activities, researching and making investments in talented entrepreneurs and exciting tech start-ups in Finland and across Europe, as well as helping them scale sustainably post-investment. We are a highly collaborative and close-knit cross-border team, bringing together years of experience in solving problems and helping entrepreneurs capture opportunities to leap ahead of the competition.

The role is described as VP/Associate, but there is room to develop your skills and take on greater responsibilities over time. With extensive on-the-job experience and a can-do attitude, there is potential for rapid progression into a Principal position. The position is based in Helsinki, Finland, with hybrid working from home and our co-working office.

What you will do:
– Build a peer-level network in the early-stage tech ecosystem with other funds and angel/seed networks, leveraging that network for insight, deal flow, and support for the entrepreneurs we work with.
– Work with partners to evaluate pitches, support investment processes, and conduct due diligence.
– Assist partners in monitoring and providing valuable support to our existing portfolio companies as needed.
– Conduct macro market research and analysis to deliver insights into emerging technologies, markets, and trends.
– Help plan and deliver brand development initiatives and events in the local and regional market.
– Support partners with strategic, operational, and business activities, including reporting and documentation.

What we are looking for:
– 2-8 years of post-graduation experience in international business, venture capital, startups, or the financial sector.
– Deep connections with the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Helsinki, Finland, and ideally the wider Nordic region.
– Entrepreneurial or startup experience, including fund-raising or investing, is preferred.
– A desire to build a career in venture capital with an international fund.
– An understanding of and interest in technology products.
– Cross-border experience and awareness of global tech investment trends are a plus. Leo Capital has a global DNA.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Finnish and English. Comfort presenting in both languages is needed; proficiency in Swedish, Estonian, or another European language is a plus.
– Any past record of venture experience, such as fund-raising or investing, is a plus.
– A high degree of self-awareness, alongside curiosity, open-mindedness, and genuine enthusiasm for startups, technology, and innovation.
– A track record of getting things done as part of a collaborative team, with the ability to work independently and remotely.
– M.Sc (Econ), M.Sc (Tech), or equivalent is a positive but not a requirement.
