Looking for for Senior SEO Lead for research-focused, product-based, US-based Startup

Used by millions of researchers across 91 countries from organizations such as MIT, Stanford, CERN, NASA, and the like, including Nobel Laureates. Other solutions provided by SciSpace cater to various scholarly content creation(B2C), publication (B2B publishers), and dissemination (B2B universities) needs. About the Role:
Are you the type of person who can’t look at a website without thinking of ways you could improve SEO and performance? Are you the person your friends and colleagues ask for an explanation of Google’s latest update? If you are passionate about search engine optimization and website performance, then the SEO Lead role on the growing SciSpace marketing team could be perfect for you.
We are looking for an experienced SEO person to join our growing team and provide high-quality search engine optimization solutions. This position will work directly with our content, operations, and growth marketing teams to improve the search engine optimization and overall performance of the website. As the Search Engine Optimization Lead, your focus will be to drive our SEO strategies to inform content marketing and technical and onsite improvements. You will apply both creative and analytical skills to develop and implement SEO content and technical tactics. You will have responsibility for measuring, analyzing, and achieving results while leading the team with best practices and testing.


  • Develop, execute and deliver SEO strategies that support website roadmap for improvements in content, on-page, technical, crawlability, and UX.
  • Help drive content marketing strategy to increase rankings, visibility and natural search results for existing and new pages.
  • Establish a test-and-learn environment across all core pages of the website to drive better on-page conversion.
  • Establish, measure, analyze KPIs and report on benchmarks.
  • Conduct keyword research, ranking analysis, and monitoring competitor sites to inform strategy.
  • Perform continuous auditing, and identify and recommend areas for improvement within site structure, page templates, and redirects.
  • Develop SEO-centered ways to acquire backlinks.
  • Introduce and create SEO A/B testing to understand the effectiveness of optimization and quantify results.
  • Stay informed and advise on SEO best practices, trends, and technologies.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for all things SEO, educate and inform throughout the organization.
  • Help manage and be a part of a rich content/editorial strategy that attracts a qualified audience (including blog posts, whitepapers, ebooks, reports, webinars, infographics, etc.
  • Create monthly reports containing a robust description of monthly web activity, suitable advice and recommendations for future pages, and a clear summary of performance against KPIs.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 4/5+ years of experience in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), ideally in a product company or in an SEO Agency.
  • Deep understanding of technical aspects of content discovery, crawling, rendering, and ranking.
  • Proven track record of developing and presenting strategies and results to leadership.
  • An understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as they relate to SEO best practices
  • Experience with Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), including split A/B testing experience
  • Self-starter who can develop, lead, prioritize and execute SEO strategies.
  • Deep Understanding of the Technical Aspects of SEO combined with strategic experience and a broad, visual understanding of how search engines work.
  • Must be open to learning new things and have an inquisitive mindset. who has practical knowledge of running SEO experiments, validating outcomes, and implementing findings.


  • Someone who has worked in an SEO agency or in a product company as an in-house SEO, where he/she was responsible for planning and implementing the SEO strategy for large sites.
  • Someone who mastered the art of SEO research.
  • Exposure to international SEO.
  • Expert in SEO Analytics.
  • Experience being the SEO Lead in previous jobs is a plus.
