ROLE – VC Investment Intern [Internship]

It is an exciting time to join Illuminate – Fund I is currently ranked as #1 VC fund in Europe (2015 vintage for distributions) and we have over doubled our assets under management (AUM) in 2022. One of our main focuses in 2023 is to greatly expand our footprint in Asia, and we are happy to welcome you to share our vision.

This is a key role to support the investment team as a Summer Intern.

This is a full-time, two-month internship, and we expect the role to start in June/July. The work is hybrid in-person/WFH – we aim to make it as flexible and enjoyable as possible but might kindly suggest you to join some meetings at night given the time differences.

The role will cover but not limit to all aspects of the investment process:

• Investments – support the investment team to source deals, drive due diligence process, present to investment committee, negotiate term sheets and execute deals.
• Research – conduct research and analysis of market trends and potential investment opportunities in the financial technology (fintech) and enterprise software sector, as well as other sectors suitable for Illuminate.
• Portfolio – support the investment team for portfolio management by attending meetings and assisting in post-meeting documentation.
• Brand Expansion – be our brand ambassador and increase Illuminate’s brand awareness across startups, entrepreneurs, investors, and universities.

TEAM

You will join the Illuminate team of 17, including ten investors across London, New York & Singapore. Our team includes experienced venture investors with backgrounds that include banking (Citi, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan, Capital One), entrepreneurship (Creditex/T-Zero/Evercomm), consulting (McKinsey, Bain & Co), and financial technology (Murex, Thomson Reuters).

REQUIREMENTS

• Full-time participation of the entire 8 weeks in summer is a MUST with options to extend
• Strong curiosity, proactivity, trust, and collaboration
• Interest in venture capital and entrepreneurship and passion to work with founders
• Passion in B2B financial technology and in topics like sustainable finance, climate tech, digital assets, data infrastructure, or AI/ML
• Strong network with startups/VCs community is highly preferred
• Work authorisation to work as an intern in Singapore is required
