THE OPPORTUNITY
The Fund Associate will be an integral part of IRV, involved in all aspects of helping run an early-stage deep tech fund. This will include generating dealflow, evaluating opportunities, and managing portfolio companies. The associate will also play a key role in fund operations, and supporting fundraising & investor relations.
We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, is hungry to learn, and thrives in the presence of ambiguity. Venture investing involves a lot of context switching, so the ideal candidate will be extremely organized. And because we are a deep tech fund, the ideal candidate will either have an Engineering background or be passionate about frontier technologies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Sourcing / Diligence / Portfolio Support
- Undergo activities that generate dealflow for the firm, such as attending events, conducting founder outreach and creating content
- Participate in calls with potential opportunities
- Conduct due diligence on potential opportunities
- Prepare investment memos and supporting documentation
- Participate in calls with portfolio companies, provide support on their operations, and assist with tracking their performance
Fund operations
- Co-ordination with our back-office team, including fund admin, tax, legal
- Assist in the preparation of materials for fundraising and LP relations
- Maintain key databases
- Help with maintenance of fund budgets
- Research and deploy new strategies to improve fund efficiencies
WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferable, or a related technical field; alternatively, a degree in Finance, Business, or Economics
- 2+ years of experience working in early-stage venture capital
- Strong research skills, highly analytical, excellent with numbers, extremely organized, strong communication & interpersonal skills
- A curious mind, with a solid understanding of market dynamics and industry trends.
- Strong work ethic, ability to work independently or as part of a team, and a passion for innovation and startups
- Bilingual (English + French)
