About Prana Venture Management: Prana Venture Management (‘Prana’) invests in mission-driven entrepreneurs who are passionate about solving deep, structural problems in the daily lives of Indians, especially for the lower-middle-income and lower-income population segments, through the innovative use of technology. Our goal is to drive access, affordability, and empowerment at scale.

We make equity investments in early-stage (Seed to Series B) startups innovating in critical, utilitarian areas such as Agriculture, Climate, Education, Financial Inclusion, Healthcare, and MSME (digitization). We currently manage Omidyar Network’s India equity portfolio, which includes companies like M2P, VerSe, Farmart, and Vedantu, and are in the process of raising a new fund.

Position Summary: We are seeking an Investment Associate to join our team. The role provides a unique opportunity to work directly with our portfolio companies, many of whom are segment leaders, to help them scale and exit. As the new fund is set up, the Associate will also be responsible for deal sourcing, assessing business plans, performing due diligence, and supporting deal execution.

Responsibilities will include the following:

New Investments:

1. Work with the team on building/refreshing sector-level strategies.

2. Help develop thematic investment theses and build a pipeline of potential investment leads.

3. Support deal execution by building financial models and preparing investment memoranda.

4. Support due diligence efforts by reviewing business plans and conducting competitive analysis.

Portfolio Management:

1. Provide analytic and strategic support to portfolio companies.

2. Conduct market scanning for potential competitors, acquisitions, & partnerships.

3. Participate in follow-on financing discussions and build investment materials.

4. Work closely with portfolio companies on strategy, hiring plans, fundraising, and exit efforts.

Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements:

1. 3-6 years of business experience with exposure to company evaluation and financial analysis, ideally at a venture capital firm, investment bank, management consultancy, or startup.

2. Experience working with CXOs in an investing, operating, or strategic advisory role.

3. An MBA from a good business school is preferred.

4. Domain knowledge in our target sectors (Agriculture, Climate, Education, Fin-Inclusion, Healthcare) is very useful.

5. Strong analytic, strategic thinking, project management, and communication skills.

6. Prior demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship and creating positive social impact.
