Job Description – Investment & Portfolio Manager
Company Description: Established in 2010, The Chennai Angels (TCA) has been a pivotal force in startup investment, boasting a diverse membership of over 150 accomplished professionals. TCA enhances the entrepreneurial landscape through mentorship, actively contributing to sustained startup growth.
The Role: As part of The Chennai Angels Secretariat, this role, reporting to the Member In charge, encompasses responsibilities in Investment and Portfolio Management. This role demands a strategic thinker with a keen eye for investment opportunities, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to foster productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Success in this position will contribute significantly to the growth and success of TCA’s investment portfolio. A competitive remuneration package awaits the ideal candidate.
Investment Responsibilities
- Sourcing investible deals from incubators, other Angel networks, and constituents of the start up ecosystem.
- Evaluate Start-up Opportunities: Assess potential investments for viability and alignment with TCA’s objectives.
- Screen and Filter: Implement a robust screening process aligned with TCA’s strategic goals.
- Lead Investment Interest: Effectively present opportunities to garner support from the broader membership.
- Negotiate and Finalize Terms: Skillfully conclude investment agreements for optimal outcomes.
- Coordinated Due Diligence: Collaborate for a comprehensive due diligence process.
- Transaction Closure: Ensure smooth closure, including Shareholder Agreements (SHA).
Portfolio Management Responsibilities
- Engage with Portfolio Companies: Maintain effective communication with founders and management teams.
- Periodic MIS Reporting: Oversee MIS reports to track and analyze portfolio performance.
- Contractual Obligations: Ensure fulfilment of contractual obligations, providing support as needed.
- Fundraising/M&A Support: Contribute to fundraising and M&A activities leveraging expertise and networks.
Qualifications: Hold a Bachelor’s in Engineering (BE), Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), or be a Chartered Accountant (ACA).
Experience: Proven track record with 7 to 10 years of experience in startup funding and investment banking.
