Silicon Road Ventures (US), an established Venture Capital firm (https://www.siliconroad.vc) with several investments in the US RetailTech startups is on a mission to transform the Future of Commerce.

Silicon Road Ventures (US) is currently launching its first India-specific VC fund through its India subsidiary Silicon Road Ideation Labs (India) Pvt. Ltd. The India specific fund’s objective to invest in Seed/Pre-Series/Series ‘A’ Commerce (Retail, CPG, CommerceTech) & Food Technology startups.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FULL-TIME
WORK LOCATION: RELOCATION TO MYSORE (Can be remote to start with for a month)
SALARY: OPEN (Depending on experience)

We are looking for a motivated candidate with a deep understanding of the Startup & Venture Capital ecosystem. The candidate must have experience working at other VC institutions and must have experience in successfully closing fundraising deals, along with handling domestic & international investors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising Support

  • Review existing marketing materials, develop potential LP strategy, direct involvement in pitching the fund, and signing up LPs.
  • Work on the Fund Strategy, along with the management
  • Develop investment strategies, target identification, source deals, and build pipeline
  • Team up with partners & associates to lead negotiations with target companies and potential co-investors

Pipeline management & Deal Process

  • Review start-ups across Food & RetailTech sectors (Market Research, Industry News)
  • Source (generate deals through various networks and finalize intake process), manage and report deal database.
  • Lead diligence on investment opportunities and deal processes (e.g. prepare diligence reports, deal memos, financial and analytics models, market analysis, and generate industry landscapes and competitive reports).
  • Structure the deals based on various parameters including valuation derivations using various (using comparable company analysis, Valuation Multiples, Comparative Analysis on DCF, and Leverage Buyout) techniques

Operational Cadence/Deliverables

  • Lead/Participate in weekly meetings with a focus on standard deliverables (pipeline, company updates, etc.).
  • Evaluate and oversee the Portfolio of the fund consistently
  • Prepare Executive Summaries, Reports, Presentations, Infographics and Heatmaps of Portfolio Companies/Startups for the Fund
  • Prepare all necessary documents for the Management Committee and the Investment Committee for an investment decision
  • Investment analysis on Cost of Capital on Investments and Exit Timelines
  • Proactively network to identify new opportunities as well as build a network of trusted, top tier co-investors and report on a weekly basis
  • Develop investment thesis, work with partners and senior management to present investments to investment committee (IC), and manage a portfolio of investments

LP reporting

  • Develop reporting template, analyze company’s performance through monthly reviews of Financial Statements, Sales, Operations and Project Deliverables
  • Manage LP reporting calendar; optimize the cadence and deliverables
  • Track, Monitor & Assist with Strategic Decision-making by being part of the Board and Review meetings

Other

  • Support, engage, and mentor portfolio companies’ to maximize venture success
  • Lead the planning and execution of the annual SRIFT (Silicon Road’s Food & Retail Innovation conference)
  • Organize events to market and brand Silicon Road activities

Other Must-Have Requirements

  • Passion for early-stage (Seed and Series A) disruptive technology.
  • Prior VC investing experience is preferred; 8-12 years of relevant work experience with top-tier venture firm/investment bank/venture-funded business, or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Well networked individual
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • MBA strongly preferred, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
