Mount Everest, the Earth’s highest mountain above sea level is located in the Himalayas between China and Nepal is now bit taller.
Nepal and China have jointly announced, the world’s highest mountain is 0.86m higher than had been previously officially calculated.
Previously, 8,848 meters is the widely accepted and recognized height was determined by the Survey of India in 1954. But for the first time the country has now conducted its own measurement of the summit in collaboration with China.
The both countries agreed this week a new height of 8,848.86m (29,031.7 ft) above sea level. The agreement announced Wednesday was heralded as a sign of the growing political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
